Credit Card Company Key Phone Numbers

Below is a list of some of the key (and often secret) phone numbers for checking on application status, moving along a “stuck” application, getting another shot if the company says NO, canceling (and getting paid not to) and the like. Note that there are a lot of these lists floating around the internet, but they often have stale info. I have tried to verify as much of these as possible and have included research notes. If you find any errors or have other information that you have personally verified, please include it in the comments so I can update the list.

Chase

  • Application Status (automated): 800-432-3117, press #, then press 2, then 1

    – verified 1/23/2012 by me

  • Personal & Business Reconsideration: 888-270-2127

    – new line, verified on 1/20/2017, works for both business & personal

  • Personal Reconsideration: 888-871-4649 (M-Sa 8am-10pm; Su 10am-9pm EST)

    – not working as of early 2017

    – re-verified 10/24/2013 by me – person picks up right away. Super simple to open new card by transferring limit from old. Maybe 5 minutes.

    – re-verified 5/12/2012 by me (person picks up phone without transfer or pushing buttons); I said that I am waiting for a decision but assumed that Chase would want to reallocate. He agreed and asked where I wanted to move the money from (I could chose from any of my personal cards). Three minutes later I was approved and ready to go.

    – verified 1/27/2012 by me (person picks up phone without transfer or pushing buttons); They ask for a reference number but your social is fine. I was approved for a personal card the day before without intervention and they gave me this info so I can’t comment on this phone number’s effectiveness for a reconsideration

  • Personal Reconsideration “Credit Analyst”: 888-245-0625

  • Business Reconsideration “Lending”: 800-453-9719

    – re-verified 10/24/2013 by me – person picks up right away. Same as last time, goes through all the business numbers and took some credit limit from a personal card.

    – verified 1/25/2012 by me; analyst asked questions about the business’s revenues and profits from this, last and next year along with personal income and assets. She then “recommended” approval to her computer, took some credit limit from a personal card and then said I was officially approved a few seconds later
